The Santa Fe NAACP is signing on to letter thanking New Mexico legislators for committing to increased funding and services and sound policies to improve New Mexico. See flyer attached. If you can, meet at noon for mini-rally at east entrance of the Roundhouse. Representative Herndon will be saying a few words to those gathered at noon. Senator Stefanics will read letter during floor announcements in the Senate and Speaker Egolf or Representative Herndon will read in the House on January 24. Stay strong for the Beloved Community.
Thank legislators for committing to increased funding and services and sound policies to improve New Mexico. Representatives from allied organizations, including AAUW-NM, League of Women Voters of NM, SantaFeNOW, and Southwest Women’s Law will present a letter of gratitude to the 55th Legislature for their work. This legislature has protected our reproductive rights; passed paid sick leave legislation; increased education, healthcare, and human services funding; provided some childcare, housing, food security, and unemployment subsidies; passed civil rights and public safety legislation. We endorse the fiscally responsible budget recommendations of the Legislative Finance Committee and Governor Lujan Grisham. New Mexicans need legislators to make these one-time and recurring investments to address disparities and improve our state.
Note: Wear masks even outside because of Omicron. Admittance into the building requires each individual to show the official COVID card with proof of two vaccinations and one booster shot and to go through a metal detector. Most of the session will be conducted by Zoom. See https://nmlegis.gov/
