Support women’s rights

The Santa Fe Branch NAACP supports a woman’s right to make her own reproductive decisions. Abortions are now banned in more than a dozen states including some that make no exceptions for rape, incest, or fetal abnormalities. Abortion is protected in New Mexico; let’s keep it that way!

Your Vote Counts

Do you feel powerless or frustrated in 2022? Do you feel progress has been lost when you have to fight for rights you’ve already won and thought you’d never lose?

There IS something you can do right now:

The only thing stopping your rights from being overturned is your voice. The best way to raise your voice in America is to vote. Now is the time. Register to vote and vote in November. You can make a difference sin 2022.

The NAACP is an advocate for equity for everyone, especially those who have been historically disenfranchised. Our goal is to make sure that everyone who can vote, does vote.

EVENT OVERVIEW

Join us for an in-depth, interactive discussion with NAACP Chief of Staff Eris Sims. We’ll look at the origin story of the NAACP, the work that the organization is currently focused on, and perhaps get a glimpse into what the future holds for one of our nation’s greatest institutions.

Then: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) grew out of race riots that occurred in Springfield, Illinois, in August 1908.

Now: African Americans have made significant gains during this century, victorious in the election of a Black president as well as many Supreme Court decisions.

Future: Let’s talk about it! You’ll have an opportunity to ask Ms. Sims your questions directly.

Letter to the Editor

In the wake of the terrible atrocities committed against Muslims in our neighboring city of Albuquerque, we of the Santa Fe Branch of the NAACP wish to extend our condolences to the Albuquerque Muslim community, and our continuing support for our Muslim community here in our city.

These atrocities must stop.  Bigotry and hatred are ever-present forces, and we will continue our ongoing work against these racist attitudes and horrific actions against anyone, regardless of race or religion.
